Bivak pod Skuto – Slovenia
Located on the Skuta peak, in the Kamnik Alps, the refuge lies at an altitude of 2.532 metres, where conditions are truly extreme. In fact, the Bivak pod Skuto has been given its unusual shape and constructed with special materials to protect it from the atmospheric conditions. A real Slovenian gem.
Refuge du Goûter (Goûter Hut) – France
The refuge is located at 3.817 metres on the French side of Mont Blanco. The’ “metal egg” is made of steel to contrast the wind that can reach speeds of up to 300 Km/h. The building perfectly blends into the mountain landscape and all the water used comes from the surrounding snow.
Kezmarske Hut Eco-refuge – Slovakia, Poland
Kezmarske Hut is a unique refuge, in the High Tatra Mountains, on the border between Slovakia and Poland. It is built in the shape of a gigantic ice-cube balancing on one corner, perfectly camouflaging itself with the surrounding environment. Monte Rosa Hut – Switzerland
This “rock crystal” is located at 2.883 metres and, as well as being 90% self-sufficient, is a splendid example of eco-compatible architecture. The hut also provides incredible views of nearby Monte Rosa, Cervino and Lyskamm.
