SKIING WITH TECHNOLOGY

22/01/2019

Technology now enables you to skip the ticket queue at ski slopes, paying only for the skiing you actually do: online ski passes offer the convenience of carrying a “smart ski pass” in your pocket, saving time and eliminating the need for cash.

The most popular technologies among skiers include MyPass and TeleSkipass.

MyPass SCI is a “Pay per Use” system, launched in 2014, that has now amassed a community of over 50,000 skiers. It covers more than 1,000 kilometres of slopes in the most beautiful ski locations across the Alps, from Piedmont to Trentino, and provides hassle-free skiing in 13 participating ski resorts: Madonna di Campiglio, Folgarida Marilleva, Pinzolo, Folgaria, Andalo Paganella, Pejo, Monte Bondone, Val Senales, Bormio, Santa Caterina, San Colombano, Aprica and Bardonecchia.

Launched in 2014, MyPass is a system that can manage hourly and multi-day rates as well as junior and baby discounts – according to the rates offered in the participating resorts – automatically detecting the cheapest rate for the skier. Customers simply need to use the ski pass card provided by MyPass to skip the ticket queue. The MyPass SCI system automatically recognises the first and last entry, charging only for the actual time spent skiing.

It’s easy to activate MyPass SCI: simply register on the website at www.mypass.cc and link your credit card number. The annual fee is 15 euro for adults and 10 euro for minors. The card can be ordered for convenient home delivery by post or can be picked up from payment desks at resorts.

In the Aosta Valley, on the other hand, the ticket office can be skipped using TeleSkipass, with a technology that uses a different working mechanism to that of MyPass SCI. TeleSkipass gives direct access to ski lifts without visiting the ticket office by loading your day ticket onto the device provided. The amount charged is calculated automatically at the end of the day, taking into account the type of ski pass used and any age-related discounts.

TeleSkipass is valid at all ski resorts in the Aosta Valley and has the advantage of offering a 5% discount from the 4th day and a 10% discount from the 8th day.

To activate a TeleSkipass contract simply go to the ticket office of any Aosta Valley ski resort, bringing along the requested documents.
