Do yourself and the environment good at the same time. Nature and sport, as we all know, are a winning combination for a healthy and eco-sustainable life.
The arrival of summer sees a return to outdoor physical activities that, most of the time, involve sports that are environmentally friendly and non-polluting.
The benefits are many, from people’s health to that of the planet. For this reason we suggest a few green sports that can be practised outdoors, individually or in a group.
- Jogging: jogging enables anyone choosing this sport to enjoy beautiful landscapes in an eco-sustainable way, being a discipline that requires no special equipment.
- Cycling: Using your bike to get around town or the countryside is definitely a green choice. Cycling is an excellent sport to experience alone or in a group. Cycling enthusiasts can choose from different types of bikes to best suit their chosen route: gravel bikes, mountain bikes, ebikes…
- Yoga: this is certainly one of the greenest sports, requiring only a mat that you can unroll wherever you want. Yoga is a beautiful sport that enables you to reconnect with nature, improve the elasticity of your body and at the same time relieve stress.
- Plogging: for people who want to reconcile their love of the environment with a passion for sport, plogging could be just the ticket. This sport combines jogging with eco-sustainability, since it involves picking up litter along the way. All you need for this is a bag for the litter, which you throw away later. We discuss this here.
- Tennis: For anyone looking for a more competitive sport to play outdoors, tennis is certainly a great choice. All you need are 2 to 4 players to start a new green match on a red clay court!
- Football: football is definitely a sport for playing outdoors, both competitively and at amateur level. The few things you need for this sport are teammates, an opponent and a leather ball to play the game.
- Beach Volleyball: this green sport is suitable for anyone who loves competing and playing outdoor sports. You can play Beach Volleyball on a beach near the sea, especially in the spring and summer. A sport that does not harm the environment and at the same time benefits everyone playing it: (protected) exposure to the sun promotes the production of vitamin D.
