May is here and summer is just around the corner: nobody wants to cut a bad figure in the all-important swimsuit test! What’s more, the warm temperatures drive lovers of all sports to work out in the open air. Whether for gruelling bike rides or long runs, it makes no difference: it’s time to get outdoors!
Here are 3 training recommendations for all athletes who want to be ready for summer and improve their fitness.
- Set yourself “SMART” goals. It’s not only in your work that you need to be smart. The goals you set to improve your fitness as summer approaches need to be smart as well! In the “smart” acronym, s stands for “specific”, m for “measurable”, a for “achievable”, r for “relevant”, and t for “time”, which must be in-line with the goal set.
- The HIT formula – High Intensity Training. This particular training formula takes less time to execute, but this is made up for by higher intensity during the exercises. It is a distinctly high-performance way to train because it involves many different exercises: running from a standing position, exercises for the upper body such as the plank, and lower body exercises for the glutes and thighs. This workout is excellent for toning the muscles of the whole body!
3.Hydration. With higher temperatures you also sweat more, so it’s essential to maintain a correct level of hydration. As well as drinking at least 2 litres a day don’t forget that water is also contained in many foods, like fruit and vegetables, that are an essential part of our diet. Finally, another way to stay hydrated is to drink mixed fruit and vegetable smoothies or centrifuges, full of vitamins and also delicious!
