5 GOOD REASONS TO GET YOUR LEGS FIT

27/04/2020

Whether you’re a runner or a cyclist, before trying our workouts you need to know that there are at least 5 good reasons to get your legs fit.

  1. NOT JUST STRENGTH, ALSO CARDIO

A lot of the work that people do on their legs includes exercises that also activate their other muscles. Squats, for example, target the legs but also work the glutes, the posterior thigh muscles, the inner and outer thighs and, finally, also the core (the central muscles of the body). Leg workouts also act as cardio exercises in addition to building up strength.

  1. STRONGER LEGS, BETTER RUNS

Well-trained legs also strengthen the back and core, but above all they give the correct stability while running. Well-developed leg muscles also enable improved results in sports like swimming and cycling, which are perfect activities to combine with running.

  1. A SLIMMING EFFECT

The muscles of the legs are the largest muscle group in the body. The more you train them, the more energy you need to move them. Whether by walking or doing an intense bodyweight workout at home, more and more calories will be burned. Like all strength training, workouts focusing on the legs use up a large amount of energy due to the post-combustion effect.

  1. PREVENTING BACK PAIN

Did you know that back pain is often caused by weak stabilising muscles? You may already have heard that to prevent back pain you need well-developed core and back muscles, but with targeted exercises you can also train your glutes, hip flexors, quadriceps and hamstrings while achieving the same benefit.

  1. SLIM AND WELL-TONED LEGS

Lots of people focus more on working out the upper body, neglecting the legs. As a matter of fact training the legs also benefits the glutes, another very important area in preventing injury and improving both performance and appearance.
