5 HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS FOR A “HOME-MADE” WORKOUT

20/03/2020

When you’re forced stay at home laziness lurks around the corner! Getting exercise is no problem, even without home gym equipment! All you need to keep fit is a few simple household objects.

So let loose your imagination for a “home-made” workout.

Plastic water bottles

The perfect replacement for weights! Ideal for lots of exercises, like squats and lifts to work the biceps and triceps.

Bags full of clothes

We all have those big bags in our wardrobes to keep clothes when they’re not in season. They’re perfect for all exercises involving the use of a “dead weight” – squats and lunges for example. That way you can work your legs and glutes. Important! Don’t forget to always keep your back in the correct position.

Books

That big encyclopaedia on the bookshelf … Let’s make the most of its weight! Hold the book in your hands with your legs slightly apart. Then lower the book by bending your knees and raise your arms above your head. Another exercise involves lifting your pelvis while lying in a supine position and then, with your knees flexed, resting the book on your lower abdomen. The weight of books also enables you to perform abdominal strengthening exercises like the Russian twist.

Chairs

You can use a kitchen chair, for example, to do push-ups with the body in an inclined position; to support you while stretching your legs backwards and to add difficulty during pelvis lifting exercises: instead of putting your feet on the floor, place them on the edge of the chair.

A broom

This can substitute the stick you’d use in the gym for squats, lunges or torso rotation exercises. Though less heavy, it can still help to keep your back straight while performing these movements.
