Summer training for future champions!

28/07/2017

The first rule for perfectly carved turns and a high-level skiing performance is, to coin a popular term, get a “killer body”.

Up to the age of 10 it’s enough for children to play any sport 2-3 times a week, but from age 11 upwards competitive skiing requires a focused training approach to counteract the forces that come into play when skiing or descending a giant slalom course at 70-80 km/h.

Very often athletes fully understand the technical aspects of their movements and what their trainer is asking them to do, but when they try to put this into practice on the slopes they fail due to a lack of strength.

To make up for this, the Sestriere Ski Club offers its athletes pre-skiing courses in Turin and Sestriere during autumn and spring. And in the summer, throughout July and August, it runs a programme of athletic and physical exercise activities from Monday to Friday. These activities work on strength, balance, proprioceptivity, endurance and resistance to force, without overlooking the upper body (abdominals, back muscles and arms). Once a week there is also a high-altitude trip to work on endurance, and other activities are offered that provide a preparatory input to skiing (water skiing, adventure parks, canyoning, acrobatics, cycling, etc.)

As in all sports, the motto is: DON’T STOP !!!
