Aldo Mazzocchi – Along the river

23/07/2013

1700 kilometres in 17 days, going up the River Niger in a canoe, from Guinea, through Mali to Niger.

This is the extraordinary exploit undertaken by Aldo Mazzocchi, the Brescia lawyer whose passion is to challenge himself, his limits and nature through extreme and fascinating adventures around the world.

  1. Alaska. Iditarod Trail Invitational. 1100 miles on foot in frozen Alaska.
  2. Australia. 5000 kilometres by mountain bike crossing the country from east to west.
  3. Niger. 1700 kilometres by canoe up the Niger

3 great exploits that Aldo completed wearing Dryarn, the environmentally friendly technical yarn (Dryarn is 100% recyclable) that goes with him on all his adventures.

All day rowing under the sun in contact with the water. Heat and sweat.

To tackle such a trip, Aldo again chose Dryarn because its intrinsic characteristics make it the ideal yarn for those subjecting their bodies to great stress, coping with sudden changes in temperature and adverse weather conditions.

Dryarn was chosen by Mazzocchi because of its exceptional characteristics:

WATER-REPELLENT AND THERMOREGULATORY

Thanks to the microfibre’s wicking capacity, garments made with Dryarn offer absolute comfort and high performance in terms of controlled wearability and water repellence.

Its exceptional heat insulation maintains body temperature, providing protection from cold and heat and from the range of temperatures the athlete will be exposed to.

PRACTICAL AND COMFORTABLE

It is light and thin, making it possible to reduce the thickness of the garments made from it, and making it easier for Mazzocchi to move.

BREATHABLE AND BACTERIOSTATIC

Dryarn prevents bacteria from developing and thus does not cause allergic reactions. Moisture and sweat are carried to the outside of the fabric where they can evaporate quickly leaving skin always dry. Dryarn is resistant to mould, moths, bacteria and other micro-organisms.

STABLE, NO IRON, NO WRINKLE

Dryarn does not change colour, size or aesthetic appearance over time.

It keeps its colour for a long time, can stand frequent washing, does not absorb water and dries very quickly. It does not need ironing.

It is very stable, does not change size even after repeated washes and is resistant to abrasion.

Aldo’s adventure is recounted in a photographic exhibition in Brescia, which will be open until X June.

The exhibition, as special as the exploit it recounts, is being held in Piazza X in Brescia. 170 metres of pictures describe the 1700 kilometres of the journey through photos by Ottavio Tommasini, who followed the exploit with his camera.
