Marco Olmo and Dryarn® Together Again for the 100 KM of the Sahara

Seventy-seven years celebrated among the desert dunes and the sands of the Sahara. This is how Marco Olmo, a living legend of extreme running, chose to mark his birthday, by participating once more in the 100 KM of the Sahara.

Considered one of the greatest specialists in extreme races, Marco Olmo is an athlete who consistently pushes beyond physical and age limits, achieving exceptional results. At 58, in 2007, he won the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, repeating his success from the previous year.

Since 2008, he has been a testimonial for Dryarn®, the microfiber specifically designed for sportswear, which still accompanies him in his feats today.

From the Marathon des Sables to the Desert Cup; from his six victories in the Cromagnons to his four gold medals in the Desert Marathon of Libya, Dryarn® is always by his side in the most extreme challenges.

The 23rd edition of the 100 KM of the Sahara also saw Marco Olmo among its protagonists, once again supported by Dryarn®.

The extreme competition, organized by Zitoway, took place from October 5th to 12th, structured into four demanding stages in the southernmost corner of Tunisia, between Algeria and Libya, just a few hours from the city of Douz.

“The race is quite tough,” recounts Marco Olmo, “because of the small dunes, the barcane, which shift constantly as the wind always blows from the same direction. They aren’t very high dunes, but there is a lot of sand. You run with minimal weight: a litre of water, a thermal blanket, a whistle… essentially, you only run with a small backpack and a vest.”

The collaboration between the brand and the ultramarathon runner is not limited to competitions. Their 17 years together include the book “Correre è un po’ come volare” (“Running is a bit like flying” – Franco Faggiani Editore, 2009), the documentary film Il corridore – The Runner (2010), and the mini-series La fibra di Marco (Marco’s Fiber), produced by Dryarn® and published exclusively on the brand’s YouTube channel.
