OUTWET AND DRYARN, UNDERWEAR FOR CHAMPIONS – IVAN BASSO TRIUMPHED AT THE GIRO D’ITALIA WEARING OUTWET UNDERWEAR IN 100% DRYARN

31/05/2010

31 May 2010. Ivan Basso wins the 93rd Giro d’Italia. A triumph for the cyclist from Gallarate who, after having dominated the Giro d’Italia in 2006, consolidated his position as champion in a difficult and exciting Giro this year, fraught with fast-paced high athletic performance: a Giro out of time, in a dimension vastly different to that which we have come to expect in modern cycling. It was a race in stages punctuated victories and defeats. One name stood out from all the rest, and only one: Ivan Basso, at first glance a cyclist just like any other but with infinite and rare staying power and determination, a man who proved he could triumph above all over himself. Ivan Basso’s outstanding victory was also an undisputed success for Outwet and Dryarn, that accompanied the champion onto the podium. Outwet has been the official Liquigas sponsor since 2009 and all of the cyclists in the team wear Outwet underwear, both during training and in the competitions, garments that are technically perfected and designed to accompany the cyclists in their athletic performance. In searching for a versatile and extremely high-performance yarn, Ouwet chose to produce its collections in Dryarn, the lightest microfiber in the world and the ideal partner for any sports practitioner, particularly those who compete under extenuating circumstances, exposing their bodies to formidable stress and frequent changes in weather conditions. The partnership between Outwet and Dryarn has led to the creation of technically advanced, innovative and decidedly avant-garde clothing, combining with high performance. Outwet supplies the Liquigas Team with its Protego Active jersey that absorbs special supplements in just 30 minutes, releasing them during physical effort: Among the priority advantages that sports practitioners demand from their specialist clothing are, in fact, comfort and convenience. Dryarn offers this and much more. This exceptional microfiber in 100% polypropylene, the lightest in the world, is water-repellent and thermoregulatory, with high colour and abrasion resistance, easily washable by machine, breathable and bacteriostatic, non-iron and non-pilling. Cycling is a sport requiring enormous effort and extreme physical commitment. Technically adapted clothing also plays an important role in sports performance and Outwet selected Dryarn for its underwear line because this fibre can control two of the fundamental aspects of intense physical effort: temperature control and perspiration, closely linked to one another. Dryarn® does not absorb the moisture produced by the body during physical activity but collects it from the skin, transferring it to the fibre surface then evacuating it toward the outside, with an efficient exchange between skin, fabric and surrounding environment enabling the thermoregulatory system’s balance to be maintained and the skin to be kept dry.
