VALENTINA GREGGIO: WORLD CHAMPION AT 247.083 KM AN HOUR IN DRYARN

30/03/2016

On 26 March the Piedmontese Valentina Greggio set the women’s world record in «speed skiing», the flying kilometre, hurtling down the Vars piste in France at an incredible 247.083 km an hour.

The thrilled athlete from Verbania, a testimonial for Dryarn, answered a few questions for us.

Q: It really happened, can you believe it yet?

R: It really happened because it’s been confirmed, but I’m still having trouble believing it… 247 km an hour really is a huge speed!!!

D: Perfect piste conditions, perfect materials, optimal fitness, the right concentration, what was the biggest factor in this record-breaking day of yours?

R: The piste wasn’t perfect but the snow was quick. I’ve had fantastic team to help me to pull this off and I’ve had the world’s fastest ski technician to prepare my skis between one run and the next.

D: As a woman in an often undervalued sport days like this are like double revenge, what will stay with you forever about today?

R: I agree. Women are undervalued, but today I’ve proved I’m very close to the men, and now they too have realized that I really am a tough proposition. What will stay with me of today is a fantastic memory and an incredible feeling that I’ll keep forever. 26.03.2016: a new world record… Unbelievable!!
