“Running is a bit like flying”. This is the motto of Marco Olmo, an outstanding runner, and a true legend for ultramarathon enthusiasts. Marco Olmo is a runner who has challenged his limits and led Italy to the roof of the world and through the sands of the desert.

Since 2017, Marco Olmo has been Brand Ambassador of CMP, the sports apparel brand of Gruppo F.lli Campagnolo, a company with more than 50 years’ experience in the fashion and sports’ industry.

CMP is a brand for the entire family, featuring high-performance apparel for every type of outdoor activity: from skiing to trekking, running, biking as well as urban leisure. CMP has created a complete range of high-performance apparel for and in association with Marco Olmo, that stands out for its comfort, research, technology and innovative materials. To design the range, CMP chose Dryarn, the fibre that has been a firm favourite with Marco Olmo for the last decade. Exceptionally light and with a superb breathability, Dryarn is the perfect

fabric for this running apparel range.

“I really like the practical, comfortable and breathable characteristics of these garments, which have improved my performance – says Marco Olmo. The heat regulation is outstanding, so the temperature you feel on your body is far lower when exercising in extremely intense conditions. Dryarn has an excellent insulation capacity that maintains a constant body temperature. I use the Dryarn top, in particular, which is a winning ally for me. Sweat quickly evaporates and the top stays perfectly dry, so I’m ready for the next stage of the race. In the many races I’ve run, I’ve also seen that the top is really resistant to bad odours”.

This top is a replica of the more famous top won by Marco Olmo in all his race wins. The top is made from Dryarn, the lightest micro-fibre in the world. Recent laboratory tests have certified that Dryarn is superior to cotton, nylon and polyester in terms of heat regulation, breathability and drying rate, making it the ideal choice for both amateur and professional runners –  in a tough sport, where the body is subject to frequent changes in weather conditions and perspires a great deal.

These running shorts have been designed in association with Marco Olmo and feature a very high percentage of Dryarn, with two front pockets – ideal for trail runners.

The perfect socks for the most demanding runners, which will stay dry even after they’ve been used for many hours. The combination of a high percentage of Dryarn and Lenpur, the pure cellulose fibre which is environmentally friendly and healthy, means the garments have excellent heat regulating properties and are extremely soft, for a superbly light, comfortable feel during prolonged physical activity. The socks have a rear reflecting tab for night-time running.

Two essential pieces of gear for ultramarathons complete the range:

The backpack designed for ultramarathons and trail running when runners have to carry everything they need with them. Featuring details and pockets to help runners during their race. The 20-litre backpack can expand or become more compact depending on the load, without disturbing the runner’s pace, even for a long time. Made from light 210D Ripstop nylon, the backpack has two front bottle holders on the shoulder straps.

Maia is the new Trail Running shoe designed in association with Marco Olmo. Light, but protective, thanks to the materials used for the upper (3D mesh with injected TPU), the shoe has been designed to perfectly fit the foot on the toughest of uphill and downhill terrain. The shoe laces up traditionally with an extra shoelace hole at the top for a snugger fit. The Vibram Fast Trail sole provides an excellent grip and traction on the toughest terrain. Weighing just 270 g, the shoe is ideal for vertical runs and for medium/long-distance trail running (average drop 8 mm).

The new running range is part of a broader context linking the Gruppo F.lli Campagnolo brand to the world of running. CMP, which organised the second edition of the CMP Trail in October, the trail running event held in Bassano del Grappa, with over 1400 runners from Italy and 10 other nations taking part, will be holding an event with the same format in Imperia, in a location between the sea and mountains, on 28 January 2018. The new collection will be exclusively previewed and runners will be able to buy the range from the CMP Store at Imperia.
