From Runtastic to Nike + Run Clun via Strava, here’s how technology helps us tracking our workout progresses.
Pedometer days are over. Even if it allowed us to ‘transform’ movement into something digitally traceable, it wasn’t a precise kind of device and it wasn’t possible to be perfectly sure about the distance we actually covered.
An old commercial for a famous smartphone said that “there’s an app for everything” and this is true. This applies to running as well, as there are apps WORKING WITH GPS helping us with measuring the distance we run precisely, and much more.
These are the top 5 apps for running
Runkeeper
This not only monitors running, but also walks and rides. It gives us all the data we need: distance, time, pace, calories and heart rate. Statistics are archived to help us tracking performance across time. Over 30 million people all over the world use it, as it’s available for iPhones, Apple Watch and all Android devices.
Runtastic
Over 200 million people all over the world use Runtastic. Thanks to the GPS tracking, the distance, the speed, l’elevazione and the calories we burnt won’t be a secret to us anymore.
