Italy is gearing up to respond to the coronavirus emergency, and the fashion industry is mobilising to produce face masks. An example of this is CALZE ILEANA SPA, which has always proudly stood for the quality of Made in Italy and is headquartered in Carpenedolo, near Brescia, one of the areas worst affected by COVID-19.
CALZE ILEANA SPA has converted 10 of its production machines for use in the manufacture of face masks. In the first three days of production alone it made 35,000 washable and reusable masks.
To create this first-level protection equipment CALZE ILEANA once again chose the high-performance properties of Dryarn®. Face masks made in Dryarn® are lightweight, breathable, bacteriostatic, washable and therefore reusable.
Dryarn® is the lightest fibre that exists in nature: its low specific gravity enables the creation of extremely lightweight masks.
Dryarn® is breathable and dermatologically tested and therefore causes no unwanted effects on the skin of the face, especially that of more sensitive people or those with dermatological problems.
Dryarn® dries quickly, is very stable, does not change dimensionally even after repeated washing and stands up to abrasion, characteristics that make it ideal in the manufacture of face masks.
“When I was asked to convert our production capability – says Luca Bondioli, GM of CALZE ILEANA – we didn’t hesitate. The emergency is prompting everyone to do their utmost to help Italy get through the emergency as soon as possible. The face masks we produce are aimed at institutions, but I also wanted to consider the civilian population. At the moment it’s very difficult to find masks for ordinary people and, by contacting the company directly (firstname.lastname@example.org), everyone will get the chance to buy them. And since in these times speed is everything, I guarantee free delivery within 2 days of placing the order”.
